8th graders Skype with National WWII Museum in New Orleans (since 2014)
In our Holocaust unit, 8th graders read several pieces and do a variety of projects. One project dealt with propaganda and in particular political cartoons (books) written by Dr. Seuss. The museum representative talked about political cartoons and gave us a brief history of several of books written by Seuss and the connection they have to WW II and other events in the world at this time. Students were also able to ask questions and then we got a tour of some of the artifacts in the museum. Later in the week, we skyped again and discussed the Holocaust and who was / is responsible. It was a great experience for our kids. Thanks to the National WWII Museum for working to set this up!
